Biography

Fanny is a social worker and pedagogue with a specialization in anthropology. She is trained in systemic work, coaching and facilitation, conflict management and transition work. Fanny worked as a supervisor, trainer and manager in the fair trade sector and in childcare. She did research and provided trainings in an academic center of expertise on interculturality. She is a guest lector at various university colleges on themes as: intercultural competence and inclusive decision making.

Since 2012 she has her own company Goesthing where she guides people through transitions, with a special interest for differences. Fanny wrote about her work in different books: the ‘Handboek Interculturele Competentie’ (a publication by Politeia) and she contributed to the book ‘Positief omgaan met diversiteit’ (a publication by Kluwer). In September 2016 she published her book “Mijn held is een hulpverlener” (a publication by Lannoo) in which she guides caregivers on a path to heterogeneity. In October 2018 she published her book ‘Van Zondebok naar zebra’ (Pelckmans pro) in which she talks about deep democracy as a tool for inclusive decision making and conflict resolution. In her last book (Nov 2023 – Pelckmans pro) she talks about the PEACE model, how to act professionally in a multi-voiced society.

Fanny Matheusen is a practitioner, instructor and supervisor in Deep Democracy the Lewis method. She teaches Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 training courses. Besides being an instructor she is an experienced trainer, coach and keynote speaker.
