The Shadow Work Association serves as the professional body representing certified Shadow Work Coaches and Facilitators across Europe.

We exist to uphold the highest professional standards, so that individuals seeking this profound work can trust in the expertise and integrity of our certified practitioners.

Comprehensive Training and Certification Framework

Whether you’re seeking professional certification or just want to explore the powerful tools and techniques we use for your own personal development, the Shadow Work Association offers a comprehensive three-level training pathway.

Each training consists of a highly intensive, highly experiential week-long programme, designed to deepen your understanding and skill:

1. Basic Training established a solid grounding in the use of the basic Shadow Work tools
2. Advanced Training deepens practitioners’ expertise with advanced facilitation techniques
3. Then specialise with the Leader Training for those called to lead group Shadow Work experiences, or Coaching Training for those called to individual client work.

Mentored Certification Process

Training completion marks the beginning of the certification journey. Aspiring Coaches work closely with experienced mentors, practicing their skills until both mentor and candidate agree they’re ready for certification. Group Facilitators demonstrate their competency by running an observed seminar under mentor supervision.

We strongly encourage peer learning through practice sessions, with multiple practice groups active in Europe. Both trainees and certified practitioners alike often take this practical approach to continue developing their skills.

Ongoing Professional Standards

Certification is not a destination but a commitment to continuous professional development:

• Supervision: Certified practitioners can engage in regular supervision to maintain their certification, ensuring they receive ongoing support and guidance in their practice.
• Re-certification Process: Every two years, Group Facilitators re-certify through participation in our professional gatherings, while Coaches undergo individual re-certification processes. This ensures all practitioners maintain and develop their skills.
• Code of Ethics: All members adhere to our comprehensive code of ethics, which sets out our professional standards, including the limitations of our work, and how we engage with clients and colleagues.
